cpu usage

the computer usage is high. Any one know why? it also slows down the computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help please

Try shutting off your computer for 30 seconds. If on XP, task manager look at processes tab then look at CPU look for the highest number (not System Idle Process). Other than that Virus scanner, trojan scanner, spyware scanner. Hope that helps.

check the number of applications running in the background in windows the number of icons in the bottom right corner is a good indication the more of these running the more cpu time is being used

there was a really dodgy virus going around that i had that took CPU up to 97% have a look in the task panel in XP... sort the list in order of CPU ussage and see whats up there... if you dont have XP ... why not... join the in with the microsoft fun

- and it taste so much better if you dont pay... [ cough cough ]

Xp costs way too much not that i had that problem to overcome either but im not sure i would pay full price

xp is sh*t go with windows 2000 nt its the best you can get
