I am a little leary about picking up one right away - Sony has issues with the discs accidently violently ejecting from the unit, the square button sticks (Sony says they will fix it in later versions, but no word on recalling the original PSPs), and they will not warrenty and fix any units with dead pixels. Nintendo will replace a unit with dead pixels, so Sony not is very disapointing. I would recommend waiting, Sony has been known to release buggy first generation hardware that got better with different revisions - plus a war with Nintendo might bring prices down.

first off like 2 % of the 1,000,000 produced have a sticky square button, never heard of the disk thing, and as for the dead pixels, if it's "more than a reasonable amount" it is fine to return. Mine runs fine, n odead pizels and its a beautiful perfect device

I wouldn't own one even if some fool gave it to me. I definatly wouldn't buy one either. $250 for a hand held system? Is Sony Nuts? That, and I really don't feel like having to re purchase my favorite DVD's just so I can watch them on a PSP. Thanks, I already have 3 DVD players in my house. When I by a gaming console, I buy it to play games, not anything else. And I'm sorry, I expect a gaming console bundle to actually have some games with it. The DS at least had Metroid Prime Hunters, yes it was a demo, but it wasn't a $250 bundle either.

I would wait too but look at the PlaystationOne (PS1 Redesign) and it's overheating issues. Or the new slim PS2 that has a disk drawer that sticks. Sony suck for quality compared to Nintendo. I must have dropped my Gameboy Advance a dozen or so times. It has a few scratches on the outside but the system works perfectly. I betting you couldn't get away with dropping the PSP too often.

The square button is a bigger problem than just 2%! The button was moved over to fit the screen better. the sqare button doesn't fully hit it's contact. After playing it for six months I predict more problems.

Watching movie on the PSP would be a joke! Sony has said for some games that use the sytems full power the battery life could be as little as two hours. So I guess your going to have to keep your system on the charger all the time if you want your VideoNow.

Also, are you expected to hold this thing up for 2 hours watching a movie? If you put it down, you have to have either a low table to see it. Or stand over it to see it properly, there isn't a stand to prop the thing up with.

And you are absolutly right about Nintendo's hardware toughness. I've dropped I dunno how many consoles and controllers over the years. I've even spilled a Coke on my original NES, and they all still work perfect. There was a story in Nintendo Power about the original GameBoy. It was in a house fire, the front plate was melted and the start and select buttons were gone. Yet when they popped in some fresh batteries and a copy of Tetris, the thing still worked. Granted it couldn't be played since the start button was gone and the A and B buttons were melted, but the fact that it still worked was a testament to the Quality of a Nintendo Product.

I'll take a DS over the PSP any day of the week!

I'd settle for a GBA over PSP. The new Zelda game kicks so much ass. I wonder how Sony is going to do once Nintendo releases the new Gameboy on the market. Im sure the DS will do fine because of it's different kind of gameplay. But can PSP last against a new Gameboy?

No way, especially if Sony thinks that charging 250 bucks for a handheld system is a good idea, and 50 bucks for games. You could buy a new console and at least 4 games for the price of 1 PSP with no games.
