View Full Version : Site a little slow

We have had a lot of traffic over the last few days so our server was maxing out.

To give you an idea we kicked out 32GB of bandwidth yesterday with over 300,000 page views. During the peak times when we have hundreds of people looking at pics at the same time this will slow the site down a little.

Please be patient during these times.

Generally our busiest times tend to be between 6pm and 3 am GMT so if your going to visit the site regularly and want the best response times then try popping by outside of these times.

Hopefully it should still be pretty fast outside of these times to.

Thanks for your understanding and as always feel free to feed back any comments.

Thx

Chief

After about 7pm last night, I couldn't even get in so it must have been VERY busy! I don't think my modem could handle it...

Yeh, the server actually fell over for the first time last night for about 2 hours. It was generating about 18000 page views an hour at the point when it failed so I wouldn't class that as a normal day so shouldn't happen too often

I haven't been able to connect for two days. Call me crazy, but is this site based in Australia or something? You guys say "m8" a lot...(gooday mate..??=Australia?), maybe that's why it's been tougher for me to get through...I'm in the eastern US...?
Chief, I've mentioned this before, I think if you incorperated thumbs that link to the full-size image, that would save A LOT of bandwidth. With 300,000 page views, & most of those pages havig every image load every time,......well you can do the math. It would also be a lot easier on the less-priviledged dial-up users.
Just a suggestion http://celebswap.com/pics/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

Australian, no m8 - British http://celebswap.com/pics/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Our server is located in a datacentre in Texas so I don't know why you have had problems accessing it from the US Laraby unless you tried to access it when it was down for a short time.

As for the thumbnail idea. I like it and I have found a hack for it. Just need the time to implement it now.

Thanks

Chief

That's very cool chief...out of curiosity could you post this "hack" or PM me on how you plan to implement it? I would be very interested in sharing the technical aspect of it w/ some other forums. Thanks in advance.
